Tiff Needell, the host of the television show “5th gear” takes his yellow Porsche 911 GT3 against a Gazelle helicopter, in what he calls a race of speed and agility. Anyone can do a drag race against a jet fighter… but what about doing a full lap on the circuit?
Check out this CH-53E Super Stallion as it comes to land. See anything weird? Well if you don’t see the nose gear extended that is because there was some kind of problem… fortunately the mechanics did a great job and managed to release the gear. Also, got to hand it to the pilot. He did a phenomenal job controlling the “Hurricane Maker” ( sailors call the Stallion that way because of the downward thrust ). Great team effort!
In 1997 at an airshow in Bratislava one member of the Russian Knights aerobatic team forgot to lower the landing gear of his Sukhoi Su-27 Flanker. As a result of this incident, only helicopters were allowed to perform that day. As for the aircraft, there was some damage to the underside but nothing major. The plane took off heading for Russia only two days later. Very solid plane… and beautiful too…
