The French really do know how to make good videos. I’ve said this for quite a long time now. Anyway, check out these cool pilots and their Pumas doing some really crazy stuff over the deserts of Chad. That low pass over those three soldiers is really scary. I bet if I were in their shoes, I’d shit myself in fear. Enjoy!
Another great video from the French. This time it’s the Gazelle helicopter in what appears to be a low altitude training exercise. These low level flights are quite intense… the helicopter feels very tight, very responsive and the rush of seeing the ground pass under you at high speed is quite spectacular.
My personal guess is this pilot didn’t really want for this maneuver to go the way it did. Of course, I am only saying this because the touch down seemed to be a little bit on the rough side, a look at the slow motion and you’ll understand… also I am wondering what were those passengers thinking after the touch down…
The German built MBB Bo-105 is probably one of the coolest helicopters ever built and quite probably one of the most maneuverable helicopters in the world. Red Bull uses a Bo-105 at airshows as an aerobatic demonstrator performing maneuvers that are generally reserved to aerobatic aircraft. Check out the Bo-105 as it performs a series of loops, rolls, and many more. Enjoy this great video!
In helicopter terms an autorotation is the equivalent of a glide. In case your engine fails this is the only way you can bring your helo on solid ground safely. This autorotation is somewhat unusual because the pilot comes in a straight in approach without a flare. Takes quite some skill to keep that helicopter from biting the dust. Check it out!
